Plovdiv court considers release for teen accused in Georgi Kuzev death

A 16-year-old girl, Victoria, is seeking release from detention following the death of Georgi Kuzev at Youth Hill in Plovdiv. She is among eight minors accused in the incident.

According to prosecutors, a 17-year-old girl in the group posed as a 15-year-old in a chat to arrange a meeting with Kuzev. The group allegedly decided to “punish” him after accusing him of being a pedophile. During the subsequent attack, Kuzev was brutally beaten, kicked, and shoved. Prosecutors state that participants also filmed the bleeding victim and took approximately 30 euros from him. Kuzev later died in the hospital from severe injuries.

While the defense argues that the two girls involved did not participate directly in the beating, the prosecution maintains they both struck the victim. The Plovdiv District Court previously denied Victoria's request to change her detention measure, citing the possibility of her committing further crimes, despite her age.
