Plovdiv District Mayor cancels auction for Veselo Selo land

Ventsislava Lyubenova, the mayor of the Severen district in Plovdiv, has officially terminated the auction for the lease of the former ‘Veselo Selo’ restaurant site. The 831-square-meter property, located near the second wheel of the Plovdiv Fair, was being offered for a 10-year term at a monthly rent of 790 euros excluding VAT.

The decision follows findings of procedural violations regarding the auction documentation. According to an official order issued on October 19, 2026, the termination was prompted by a letter from Iliyan Ivanov, head of the Legal and Regulatory Services Directorate for the Plovdiv Municipality, which identified breaches of the ordinance governing the acquisition and management of municipal property.

The site had previously been considered for public infrastructure projects, including a multi-story parking garage for approximately 120 vehicles and a potential new district administration building, rather than being leased for public service activities.
