Plovdiv ethnic neighborhood reports extremely low voter turnout

In the Stolipinovo neighborhood of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, voter turnout for the recent elections was reported to be catastrophically low, with participation rates estimated between 2% and 4.5% across several polling stations.

Local reports indicate that many residents in this large ethnic district were unaware that elections were taking place. Voters cited a lack of information, noting an absence of campaign posters, rallies, or local agitation. One voter mentioned that they do not watch Bulgarian television, which contributed to the lack of awareness.

Polling stations located at schools such as ‘Nayden Gerov’, ‘Pencho Slaveykov’, and ‘Kiril Nektariyev’ saw very few participants. In some locations, fewer than 15 people had cast votes by 5:00 PM, including members of the local election commissions. While polling corridors remained nearly empty, local streets remained active with residents engaged in daily commerce and social activities.
