Plovdiv: Group of youths assaults and burns boy with lighter
A group of more than 10 youths attacked a boy in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The incident reportedly began in a shopping mall, from which the group was expelled, and continued on Russki Boulevard. According to initial reports, the victim was punched and subsequently burned with a lighter. Witnesses and passersby alerted emergency services via 112.
Psychologist Assoc. Prof. Hristo Monov commented on the incident, noting that the attackers appear to lack respect for the law but may fear authority. He attributed such aggressive behavior to social environments where youth lack positive role models and may adopt aggression as a way to assert themselves, citing cultural models where violence is normalized.
