Plovdiv Hosts International Folklore Festival and Hills of Rock Music Event

From July 27 to 31, Plovdiv staged the 30th anniversary of its International Folklore Festival. The free‑entry celebration featured daily parades, open‑air concerts, and evening performances in the Ancient Theatre, showcasing ensembles from Georgia, Mexico and other countries. Highlights included the Busuiocul ensemble from Georgia and the Ateneo Fuente folk ballet from Mexico.

During the same week the city concluded the Hills of Rock 2026 festival with a final night of heavy‑music acts. German metalcore group Electric Callboy performed on the main stage at the Grebna Baza, followed by Lamb of God, as well as appearances by Deafheaven, Paradise Lost, Nevermore and the Bulgarian band Tsar Plŭh on the Power Stage. The events drew large, mixed‑genre crowds and emphasized Plovdiv’s growing reputation as a summer cultural hub.
