Plovdiv hosts major theatre and Thracian heritage festivals

Plovdiv is hosting two major cultural events this September. The 30th edition of the Crossroads Stage international theatre festival runs from September 10 to 21. The festival features a diverse program including the premiere of ‘English Window’ by Ray Cooney, performances from the Istanbul State Theatre, the Italian Mira Foundation, and the National Theatre of Budapest, alongside various Bulgarian theatrical productions.

Additionally, the ‘Thracian Mysteries’ festival, organized by the Orphic Academy Association, will take place on September 26. Centered around the Ancient Theatre and other historic sites in Old Plovdiv, the event aims to showcase ancient Thracian heritage through an exhibition by digital artist Dilyana Angelova, educational panels, workshops on traditional crafts, and interactive performances such as ‘Mystery of the Thracian Hero’.
