Plovdiv hosts Old Town Days festival under ‘Revived Heritage’ theme
The Old Town Days festival in Plovdiv will take place from September 16 to 23 under the theme ‘Revived Heritage’. Organized by the Municipal Institute ‘Ancient Plovdiv’, the eight-day event focuses on the connection between the past and the present, utilizing historic Renaissance houses and ancient monuments as venues for cultural activities.
The program includes various exhibitions, concerts, literary meetings, and creative workshops. The official opening begins on September 16 at the Roman Stadium with the documentary photo exhibition ‘Revived Heritage’. Other scheduled highlights include a photography exhibition by Katerina Georgieva at the Klianti House, an operatic matinee at Balabanova House, and a cyanotype workshop.
Musical performances are a central component, featuring a folklore concert, the RUSITA Acoustic project, and a 25th-anniversary jubilee concert by the Elika Ensemble at the Ancient Theatre on September 21. The festival also incorporates culinary tastings and art exhibitions, such as the ‘Blue Zone’ featuring works by artists with disabilities.
