Plovdiv installs first plaque for Todor Aleksandrov Bridge

The first commemorative plaque bearing the name of Bulgarian revolutionary Todor Aleksandrov is being installed today on the Concrete Bridge in Plovdiv. The ceremony is scheduled for 18:30 at the southern side of the structure.

The initiative, led by ‘Bravo Plovdiv’ and ‘United Bulgarians’, follows a 2024 decision by the Plovdiv Municipal Council to rename the bridge in honor of the revolutionary. The timing of the installation coincides with the 102nd anniversary of Aleksandrov’s death, which occurred on August 31, 1924.

Future plans for the site include installing additional inscriptions on both sides of the bridge and a bust of Todor Aleksandrov once all bridge activities are completed. The project serves as a symbolic act of gratitude for Aleksandrov’s dedication to the rights of Bulgarians in Macedonia.
