Plovdiv labor exchange offers 110 jobs to address skill shortages
A specialized labor exchange was held in Plovdiv to connect businesses with youth and vulnerable groups. During the event, 12 employers from the manufacturing, trade, hospitality, and transport sectors offered more than 110 job vacancies.
Deputy Minister of Labor Danail Rusev reported that nearly 9,000 unemployed individuals in the Plovdiv region secured employment between the start of the year and the end of September. While the unemployment rate in the Plovdiv municipality stands at 3.3%—significantly lower than the national average—challenges remain. Approximately 13,000 people are currently registered in regional labor bureaus, yet businesses report a persistent shortage of skilled technical personnel.
Rusev noted that nearly half of the registered unemployed lack professional qualifications, often holding only primary or lower education. Regional Governor Georgi Yanev highlighted that Plovdiv has the highest number of registered unemployed persons under the age of 29, totaling over 1,600. Officials emphasized the need for companies to invest in on-the-job training to bridge the gap between available labor and industry requirements.
