Plovdiv Municipal Council to discuss 401M euro budget and hospital loan

The Plovdiv Municipal Council is set to address several critical issues, including the 2026 municipal budget, which has a proposed macro-framework of approximately 401 million euros. The agenda also includes revisions to public transport regulations and an annex for the construction of a new indoor basketball hall for ‘Akademik-Bultex 99’ that includes underground parking.

A significant financial decision involves a 300,000 euro interest-free loan to the St. Mina Multiprofile Hospital (MBAL ‘Sv. Mina’). This emergency measure follows reports from hospital manager Dr. Krasimir Valov regarding acute financial deficits. The funds are earmarked to cover 255,000 euros in debts to suppliers for essential goods—such as medicine, food, and utilities—and to settle 45,000 euros in unpaid staff wages from July 2026.

The loan is intended to have a five-year repayment term with a one-year grace period on the principal. The hospital management is required to use the funds exclusively for these specific debts and must provide monthly expenditure reports to the municipality.
