Plovdiv municipality commits to Council of Europe youth centre recommendations and launches AI‑focused education program
The Plovdiv municipal administration said it will fully implement the recommendations of the Council of Europe’s audit of the city’s Youth Centre, which had deemed the centre’s management inadequate and temporarily frozen its quality label. Officials indicated they are reviewing the report’s findings and will take corrective actions, though the centre’s director, Velika Lazarova, was on leave at the time of the report.
In a separate session, the Plovdiv City Council approved amendments to the 2026‑2028 Municipal Education Programme. Proposed by Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov, the changes introduce new sub‑programs, notably the integration of artificial intelligence tools in schools, a 1:1 device model for students, and upgrades to playgrounds and sports facilities with a €150,000 budget. The programme aims to modernise teaching, improve infrastructure and prepare children for future professions.
