Plovdiv Municipality launches competition to revitalize Trimontium underpass

The Plovdiv Municipality has officially launched an international competition for an architectural concept to redesign and revitalize the Trimontium pedestrian underpass and its surrounding urban areas. The project, titled ‘Liminal’, aims to transform the underpass from a mere transit point into a functional space for events and social activities.

The scope of the revitalization includes the underground space, surface-level approaches, and adjacent public areas. The competition has an estimated value of 255,500 EUR (excluding VAT), which covers the prize fund and the procurement of services for the subsequent design phase.

Participation documents are being accepted until October 21. Following the competition, the municipality intends to use the winning conceptual designs as a basis for technical and working project phases through further negotiations. The municipality retains the right to use the awarded projects without additional compensation once the prizes are paid.
