Plovdiv prosecutors indict three doctors in child's death case
The Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against three medical professionals following the death of a 6-year-old boy in April. The case, which is moving to the Plovdiv District Court, involves two anesthesiologists and a dentist.
The anesthesiologists are charged with causing death through negligent performance of their duties. Specifically, the first anesthesiologist is accused of administering an incorrect medication dosage for weaning from anesthesia that was disproportionate to the child's age and body mass, failing to recognize life-threatening complications, and leaving the workplace prematurely. The second anesthesiologist is accused of failing to make a correct initial assessment of the child's condition and failing to take timely measures to ensure patent airways.
The dentist is charged with performing dental treatments on minors under general anesthesia between February 2024 and April 2025, in violation of established medical standards and regulations, as the hospital lacked the necessary authorization for such medical activities.
