Plovdiv railway station undergoes major service reorganization

Major railway reorganization is underway at Plovdiv Station from August 24 to August 28, 2026, due to the installation of massive metal structures for a new pedestrian footbridge. This work is part of a large-scale modernization project involving the railway junction and the construction of a communication-transport breakthrough under the station area.

On August 24, movement on the first track and tracks one through six at the Central Station was suspended during the morning hours, leading to the cancellation of several passenger trains between Plovdiv and Filipovo. Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) has provided replacement bus services for these routes.

Nighttime construction scheduled for the nights of August 26–27 and August 27–28 will require power shutdowns in the contact network between Todor Kableshkov, Plovdiv, and Krumovo. These works will impact night express trains, including the Sofia–Varna service, which will depart earlier than usual. Additionally, express trains on the Burgas–Sofia route will operate via a detour through Burgas, Filipovo, Karlovo, and Iskar.
