Plovdiv region drug busts result in arrests and charges

Police in the Plovdiv area arrested a well‑known drug dealer in the Stoilipinovo neighbourhood after finding cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana intended for distribution. The suspect accepted a plea agreement, receiving a two‑year suspended prison term with a four‑year probation period, avoiding immediate incarceration.

In a separate operation near the town of Sopot, a 27‑year‑old man was detained following a police chase. He faces two charges: possession of approximately 1.4 kg of marijuana for distribution and obstruction of police officers. Authorities seized the drugs from a villa and an apartment, valuing the haul at about 14,500 lev. The suspect is being held for up to 72 hours while prosecutors consider further detention measures.
