Plovdiv sports complex project faces delays as Phase 2 tender is canceled
The construction of a sports complex near the language high schools in Plovdiv has faced further setbacks. The Plovdiv Municipality has terminated the public procurement procedure for Phase 2 of the project, which had an estimated value of approximately 6.1 million euros.
Both bidders in the tender were disqualified. Msport Bros, the current contractor for Phase 1, was removed after failing to confirm the validity of its offer for an additional six-month extension. The municipality is already in the process of terminating its contract with Msport Bros for Phase 1 due to expired deadlines and the complete cessation of work and maintenance on the sports fields.
The second bidder, the DZSD Triada consortium, was disqualified for failing to provide necessary information to prove compliance with technical and professional capability criteria. Phase 2 was intended to include an artificial turf football pitch, an athletics track, a sand training zone, a multifunctional sports hall, mobile stands, and various supporting infrastructure. The municipality must now decide whether to announce a new tender for Phase 2, though it is likely they will first resolve the issues with the Phase 1 contractor.
