Plovdiv to host major sports festival and rowing championship
Plovdiv is preparing for two significant sporting events in September 2026. The first is the Plovdiv 2026 Sports Festival, scheduled for September 19 and 20 at the parking area in front of Hristo Botev Stadium. Organized by Bultras Fight Club and the Plovdiv Municipality, this free event is part of the city's candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2028. The festival will feature various sports demonstrations, educational tents, and activities for children and youth, with prizes available for the most active participants.
Additionally, the Balkan Rowing Championship will take place at the Plovdiv Rowing Canal from September 11 to 13, 2026. Due to the international competition, access to certain areas will be restricted to ensure safety. Specifically, the northern pedestrian alley will be closed to the public on the afternoon of September 11 and during the mornings of September 12 and 13. Access to the canal for non-competing boats will also be limited between September 10 and 13.
