Plovdiv to host Miss Bulgaria 2026 and expand cultural tourism

Plovdiv is strengthening its position as a cultural hub in the Balkans through major upcoming events and successful recent festivals. The city has been selected to host the Miss Bulgaria 2026 grand final on October 10 at the Ancient Theatre. This marks a significant shift in the pageant's history, as the event moves away from its traditional venue in Sofia to a new concept of rotating the national final through different Bulgarian cities to showcase regional culture and identity.

Additionally, the city is building on the economic success of the PHILLGOOD festival. The inaugural event drew 60,000 visitors and generated 2 million euros in direct revenue for the local economy. Data shows that 25% of attendees were foreign tourists, with 74% of guests staying in local hotels. Following this success, officials are planning for PHILLGOOD 2027 and aim to develop the Grebnata zone with further investments to support the city's growing event infrastructure.
