Plovdiv Unification Monument cleaned for anniversary celebrations

In preparation for the 141st anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria and the city holiday of Plovdiv, the Unification Monument has undergone its traditional annual cleaning. Teams from the municipal company ‘Chistota’ used two tons of water and five liters of green apple-scented shampoo to refresh the monument and the surrounding square.

To facilitate the upcoming celebrations on September 6, local authorities have announced several logistical measures. A memorial marathon will run from the town of Saedinenie to Plovdiv, necessitating phased road closures on Vasil Aprilov Boulevard and the Maritsa River bridge. Additionally, parts of Shexti Septemvri Boulevard will be closed during the ceremonial dawn inspection.

Police will implement security checkpoints around the square to monitor for prohibited items such as weapons, pyrotechnics, and glass bottles. Authorities have also noted restrictions on individuals displaying aggressive behavior or carrying bulky luggage within the security zone.
