Plovdiv’s Klement Ohridski Primary School Opens New Energy‑Efficient Building

The Klement Ohridski Primary School in Plovdiv has completed a €1.75 million renovation funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, the national budget and municipal co‑financing. A new three‑storey annex adds six modern classrooms, a library with a reading area, and additional spaces to support a shift to single‑shift teaching.

The overhaul also modernised existing facilities: classrooms and common areas were refurbished, the schoolyard was upgraded, and new furniture installed. Energy‑saving measures earned the building an “A” energy rating, including a photovoltaic power plant for self‑consumption and a solar‑thermal system for hot water. Accessibility improvements feature an elevator and an electric platform at the main entrance, ensuring free movement for people with disabilities. The upgraded environment now serves 263 pupils, offering safer, more comfortable and sustainable conditions for learning.
