PLTU Bawasalo operates three units with 200 MW total capacity

PLTU Bawasalo (PLTU Barru) is currently operating three power generation units with a total capacity of 200 MW. This capacity contributes approximately 9 to 10 percent of the peak electrical load for the South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi (Sulselrabar) regions, which reaches about 2,100 MW.

Management noted that extreme weather conditions, including El Nino and prolonged dry seasons, have challenged the regional electrical system by reducing the production capacity of hydroelectric power plants (PLTA). Consequently, PLTU Bawasalo must maintain optimal operations to support the power supply. Due to these conditions, routine machine maintenance originally scheduled for June has been postponed until November to coincide with the rainy season.
