Plus-size models gain prominence in global fashion industry

The fashion industry is expanding body representation, allowing plus-size models to gain prominence on runways, in advertising campaigns, and in international magazines. This shift has been driven by pioneers such as Ashley Graham, Iskra Lawrence, Precious Lee, Tess Holliday, Paloma Elsesser, and Denise Bidot.

New prominent figures include Ajok Daing, who has worked with brands like Stella McCartney, Chanel, Max Mara, and Nina Ricci. Yumi Nu made history in 2022 as the first Asian-descendant plus-size model to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Other notable models include Mexican model and psychologist Ana Carbajal, and American model Tess McMillan, who has worked with luxury brands such as Gucci, Marc Jacobs, and Dolce & Gabbana.
