Plutón Editores SAC investigated for alleged tax fraud

Plutón Editores SAC, the publishing company for journalist César Hildebrandt’s weekly magazine, is under investigation for alleged tax fraud and identity theft. The case originated from a complaint by former administrative assistant Michael Alexander Sánchez Escajadillo, who claims he was irregularly dismissed from the company.

Sánchez Escajadillo alleges that the company issued five electronic sales receipts in his name without authorization, totaling S/ 1,238,749.20. These documents, which cover a period between December 2025 and March 2026, reportedly record the supposed acquisition of 303,615 printed copies.

The former employee has filed reports with the police in Surco and the national tax administration (Sunat) to disclaim responsibility for these transactions. These complaints triggered an inspection by the National Superintendency of Labor Inspection (Sunafil). While Hildebrandt has characterized the scrutiny as political retaliation, the Specialized Criminal Prosecutor's Office for Tax Crimes is investigating the matter.
