Pluto Film acquires Agata Trzebuchowska horror debut ‘Sick’

Berlin-based sales outfit Pluto Film has acquired the worldwide sales rights for ‘Sick’, the feature directorial debut of Polish filmmaker Agata Trzebuchowska. Trzebuchowska previously gained international recognition for her role in the Oscar-winning film ‘Ida’.

Produced by Warsaw-based Lumisenta, the coming-of-age horror film is set in the Polish countryside during a stifling summer. The plot follows two siblings, Maks and Emma, who are sent to care for their ailing grandmother, only to experience a disturbing shift in their relationship as interpersonal tensions and emotional boundaries blur.

The film is scheduled for its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, followed by its European premiere at the Sitges Film Festival. The cast includes Konrad Kąkol, Katarzyna Łubik, Monika Niemczyk, Julian Świeżewski, and Eliza Rycembel.
