Plymouth Argyle seeks urgent investment amid projected losses
Plymouth Argyle chairman Simon Hallett has stated that the club is treating the need for fresh investment with “some urgency.” During a recent fan forum at Home Park, Hallett revealed that discussions with potential investors are ongoing and could potentially conclude within weeks, though non-disclosure agreements prevent specific details from being shared.
Chief executive Paul Berne reported that the club is projected to face losses of approximately £11.5 million for the 2025/26 financial year, an increase of £900,000 from previous forecasts. Berne noted that the club is unlikely to reach a break-even point in the immediate future.
Financial pressures are also being driven by infrastructure projects. The development of Foulston Park, which serves as the club’s new academy and women’s team base, is now expected to cost £23 million, roughly £6 million over the original budget. Hallett confirmed that these overspends have been personally funded by himself and his wife, Jane, and that these costs will not reduce the first-team playing budget.
