Plymouth Saturday Football League folds as South Devon League expands

After more than a century of Saturday men's football, the Plymouth Saturday league will cease operations for the 2026‑27 season, leaving no Saturday teams under the Plymouth district name. Clubs formerly in the league are moving to neighbouring competitions such as the South Devon Football League.

The South Devon Football League has responded by creating a sixth division for the first time since 2013, increasing its roster to 62 teams. Eleven new clubs, including Watts Blake Bearne U18s and Buckland Athletic 3rds, have been admitted, while several sides have departed. The expansion aims to provide more playing opportunities and cup competitions for grassroots clubs in Devon.
