Plzeň and Czech cities to host light shows and historical celebrations
Plzeň will host a series of events on October 28 to commemorate the 108th anniversary of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia. The program includes access to historical monuments, museums, galleries, and theaters, with many venues offering symbolic entry fees of 28 CZK or 28 percent discounts. The celebrations will conclude with a ‘Procession of Lights’ and a musical-light composition at Republic Square.
Other activities in Plzeň include guided walks through Lochotín, excursions to technical sites like water treatment plants, and rides on historical trams and buses. Nearby Starý Plzenec will also participate with visits to Radyn Castle and the Bohemia Sekt facilities.
In other parts of the Czech Republic, the company Decoled is launching a new season of light exhibitions. These projects aim to highlight local history and legends, such as the industrial past of Ostrava and the legends of Brno. In Prague, a light path will focus on the life and era of Charles IV, featuring illuminated elements like Charles Bridge and Karlštejn Castle. These light installations are also planned to expand further into Europe.
