Plzeň hosts Sportmanie 2026 sports festival for 42,000 visitors

The Sportmanie Plzeň 2026 event concluded at the Plzeň Plaza shopping center, drawing approximately 42,000 visitors despite variable weather and rain. The large-scale public sports festival featured nearly 100 sports clubs and associations from the Plzeň region, offering activities ranging from traditional sports to niche disciplines like padel, underwater hockey, and beach handball.

A major highlight of the event was the participation of children under 15, who collected stamps at various stations to earn medals. A total of 14,000 medals were awarded, including 4,000 bronze, 5,000 silver, and 5,000 gold medals distributed over the course of the three-day cycles.

The event also included chess activities supported by the Chess Federation of the Czech Republic and hosted by Chess Club 64 Plzeň. Visitors participated in tournaments, simultaneous games, and chess puzzles, with plush chess sets being particularly popular among younger children.
