Plzeň launches Sportmanie 2026 public sports festival

The city of Plzeň will host the 11th edition of Sportmanie, a free public sports festival, from Saturday 15 August to Sunday 23 August 2026. The three‑day blocks will feature nearly a hundred clubs offering about fifty sport and recreation stations for children, teenagers and adults in the park behind the OC Plzeň Plaza. Participants can collect stamps on a game card and exchange them for bronze, silver or gold medals.

Mayor Roman Zarzycký highlighted the event’s popularity, noting that a record 55 000 children and adults attended the previous edition. He said the festival “motivates children to move, showcases sport role models and provides an attractive activity for summer holidays.” The opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. with a parkour performance by Jaroslav Chuma, followed by a program hosted by TV presenter Barbora Černošková. Guests will include Olympic silver‑medalist tennis player Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková and singer‑songwriter Thom Artway. Additional attractions such as parachute displays, inter‑district competitions and talks by the Youth Sports Foundation are scheduled throughout the week.
