Plzeň Police arrest man for attempted rape and robbery

Police in the Plzeň region have apprehended a 23-year-old man in connection with an attempted rape and robbery that occurred in late May near Nýřansko. The victim, a 64-year-old woman, was attacked from behind while walking on a field path. She managed to defend herself, preventing the assault from being completed, though the attacker stole her bag containing personal belongings.

Investigators faced significant challenges as the incident took place in a remote area without security cameras or witnesses. Following a three-month investigation involving searches of local housing facilities, detectives identified a suspect matching the victim's description. The man has since confessed to the crime and has been placed in custody. He faces charges of attempted rape and aggravated robbery.
