Plzeň Region approves 100 million CZK subsidy for Klatovy seminary project

The Plzeň Region has approved a 100 million CZK subsidy for the Josefinum project in Klatovy. The project aims to reconstruct a former Jesuit seminary, which is the last building in the historic center requiring repair.

Estimated costs for the Josefinum project have risen to approximately 350 million CZK, with the majority of funding coming from the municipal budget. The site is intended to become a socio-cultural center featuring multifunctional spaces for lectures, exhibitions, congresses, and workshops, as well as a gallery, cafe, restaurant, and accommodation. Additionally, a parking garage is planned in front of the building at an estimated cost of 100 million CZK.

Regional Councilor Libor Picka stated that the renovation is a meaningful investment in cultural heritage and tourism. Mayor Rudolf Salvetra noted that the city aims to have the entire Jesuit complex classified as a national cultural monument.
