Plzeň urban greenery suffers from extreme drought

Extreme drought and heat in Plzeň are causing significant damage to urban greenery. Officials from the Public Estate Administration (SVS) report that the current weather conditions are unprecedented.

Many birch trees in city parks are dying, and lawns have turned yellow or brown. While newly planted trees receive irrigation, older trees are struggling to survive the lack of groundwater and rising temperatures. Local ponds, such as those in Lochotín Park, are drying up earlier than usual due to the prolonged lack of meaningful rainfall.
