PM Narendra Modi inaugurates multiple Amrit Bharat railway stations and new train service in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually launch a series of upgraded railway stations across India on 17 July as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. In Rajasthan, the Jaisalmer station was rebuilt at a cost of about ₹140 crore, adding air‑conditioned waiting halls, Wi‑Fi, digital displays and a pit line for train maintenance. Also in Rajasthan, the Somesar station in the Ajmer division was modernised for ₹12.41 crore, featuring lifts, AC lounges, high‑speed Wi‑Fi and improved ticketing facilities.

In Punjab, an advanced Jalandhar station will be opened and a new train service, the Sant Guru Ravidas Express, will run between Amritsar (via Jalandhar) and Varanasi, providing faster, direct travel for pilgrims and boosting regional connectivity. The virtual inauguration will be joined by senior ministers, railway officials and local representatives.

These projects aim to enhance passenger comfort, stimulate local economies and strengthen rail links in northern India.
