PM Modi interacts with youth in Viksit Vibrant Village Programme 2026
On 26 July 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video‑conference with more than 400 young participants of the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme 2026. The programme, run under the MY Bharat scheme, was carried out in two phases from 4 to 30 June 2026 in 74 border villages across Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Participants were chosen via a nationwide online quiz that drew over three lakh entries. During their stay in the villages they took part in swachhata drives, awareness campaigns on government schemes, cultural exchanges, tree‑planting activities and mini model‑panchayat simulations, among other initiatives aimed at strengthening community participation and national integration.
Modi recalled his 2016 Diwali visit to the Chango border village and highlighted the empowerment of women, noting that “women can do anything” and praising solo travel for young women as a confidence‑building experience. The overarching goal of the programme is to regard border villages as the nation’s “first villages” and to make them active contributors to India’s development.
