PM Vishwakarma Scheme marks three years of artisan support

The Indian government is marking the third anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, an initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023. The scheme provides end-to-end support to traditional artisans and craftspeople across 18 identified trades to strengthen their livelihoods and entrepreneurial capabilities.

A commemorative event is scheduled for September 17, 2026, in Kolkata, West Bengal, featuring Union Minister for MSME Jitan Ram Manjhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The celebration will include an exhibition of local artisan products to provide a platform for sales and display.

In Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, the scheme is actively being implemented through training programs and workshops. Local workers have reported receiving financial assistance, machinery, and both basic and advanced skill training to enhance their traditional trades.
