PMDF Commander to discuss security and personnel gaps

Colonel Flávio Mendonça Palhares, Commander-General of the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF), is scheduled to discuss public security strategies during a live interview on the program ‘Vozes da Comunidade’ this Friday.

A primary focus of the discussion will be addressing the current personnel deficit within the corporation. The PMDF currently operates with just over 11,000 officers, despite legal provisions for more than 17,000 positions, leaving a gap of over 7,000 personnel. To combat this, approximately 1,200 soldiers were incorporated in 2025, and further public examinations are planned for upcoming years.

Other key topics include the strengthening of community policing, the use of technology such as body cameras and police intelligence, and the modernization of patrol methods and vehicle fleets.
