PMDH Executive Director faces removal petition after fatal nursery fire

A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court seeking the removal of Rana Imran Sikandar, the Executive Director of PMDH Hospital, following a fatal fire in the hospital's nursery ward. The incident, which resulted in the deaths of 15 newborns, has prompted legal action aimed at holding leadership accountable.

The petitioner, a local lawyer, has named several entities as parties to the case, including the Federation, the Ministry of Health, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The petition requests that the court direct the FIA to conduct a transparent investigation to identify those responsible for the tragedy.

Additionally, the petition calls for the immediate preservation of all relevant evidence, specifically requesting that the court order the seizure of all CCTV footage and hospital records from the time of the incident to prevent the destruction of evidence. Reports from the scene indicated that the nursery ward was locked and unattended by medical staff at the time the fire occurred.
