PNOE to launch self-serve metabolic testing device

PNOE, a company based in Malden, Massachusetts, with operations in Athens, Greece, is set to launch its PNOE 2.0 device on October 1. The new generation of the metabolic testing system introduces a self-serve mode, allowing users to conduct tests without a trained operator.

Users can perform the test by wearing a mask, pressing a button, and breathing for eight minutes. This shift from lab-based setups to self-service is intended to expand the technology's reach into fitness centers, pharmacies, and wellness services. The device measures oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide exhalation to determine VO2 max and other metabolic parameters.

CEO Apostolos Atsalakis noted that while the science of metabolic testing is well-established, the new portable package aims to make lab-grade accuracy accessible to a broader audience. The company clarified that the device is not intended to provide medical recommendations and does not have FDA clearance.
