People's Party announces leadership changes in Basque provinces

Miguel Tellado, the Secretary General of the People's Party (PP), has announced a series of leadership changes within the party's Basque branches to prepare for upcoming municipal and provincial elections.

In Álava, Iñaki Oyarzábal will step down from his presidency. Tellado indicated that Oyarzábal may be called to serve in Madrid in the near future, suggesting a potential candidacy for the 2027 general elections. In Gipuzkoa, Muriel Larrea has requested to step aside from her role as provincial president.

In Bizkaia, the party intends to maintain stability by encouraging Amaya Fernández to run for reelection as provincial president, following her work managing the provincial committee. The party aims to hold provincial congresses in Álava, Bizkaia, and Gipuzkoa around December to ensure their organizational structure is fully prepared and electoralized for the next political cycle.
