Pocatello to host town hall on automated license plate cameras

The City of Pocatello and the Pocatello Police Department will host a public town hall on October 21 to gather community feedback regarding the use of Flock automated license plate scanning cameras. The meeting will include a presentation by the police department followed by a question-and-answer session for residents.

There are currently 46 Flock cameras in the Pocatello-Chubbuck area. Police Chief Robert Schei previously stated that these cameras are not used for immigration purposes and noted that the technology can increase police efficiency by reducing the need for multiple officers to engage in vehicle chases. Mayor Mark Dahlquist and the City Council are expected to attend the session.
