Pochampally PHC healthcare workers allegedly assaulted
A man, identified as Dudyala Venkatesh Thirupathi, allegedly assaulted healthcare workers at the Bhoodan Pochampally Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Telangana’s Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. The incident, which reportedly occurred on October 1, involved the man becoming aggressive and attacking three staff members, including two women, and the duty doctor. During the disturbance, the man allegedly took the doctor’s stethoscope and damaged a computer.
Police have stated that the individual is suffering from mental health issues and is currently receiving care. The incident has prompted the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) to condemn the attack and demand immediate legal action and improved security measures. The HRDA emphasized the need for a safe working environment, particularly for women doctors serving at grassroots healthcare facilities, stating that such attacks represent an assault on the healthcare system itself.
