Pocketpair rejects numerous Palworld collaboration offers

John “Bucky” Buckley, the head of publishing and communications at Pocketpair, has revealed that the studio has rejected a significant number of collaboration offers for Palworld. Buckley stated that many potential crossovers were scrapped because they did not align with the game’s core survival gameplay framework.

Addressing criticisms regarding previous partnerships, such as the collaboration with Terraria, Buckley emphasized a “fun-first approach” rather than a strict adherence to lore. He noted that while some players may prefer lore-driven content, the studio prioritizes collaborations that make sense within the existing game systems and provide entertainment.

Successful crossovers to date include titles like Terraria and ULTRAKILL, which were permitted because they fit the game’s tone and mechanics. Buckley suggested that the partnerships players see represent only a small fraction of the total proposals the team has considered and subsequently declined.
