Poczta Polska seeks to acquire Orlen Paczka to build national logistics giant

The Polish Ministry of State Assets is pursuing the creation of national champions in the logistics and telecommunications sectors. Minister Wojciech Balczun stated that Poczta Polska is working to acquire Orlen Paczka to establish a state-owned logistics giant capable of competing with InPost.

While a previous agreement between Orlen and Poczta Polska was withdrawn in February 2026, negotiations have reportedly resumed. The acquisition of Orlen Paczka is viewed by the ministry as an essential step for national security and logistics independence.

In the telecommunications sector, the government is exploring synergies between Hawe Telekom and Exatel to build a national operator independent of international corporations. This follows the Industrial Development Agency's acquisition of 99.87% of Hawe Telekom shares after a court ruling in Warsaw.
