Podemos faces 7.8 million euro loss and halved assets

The Spanish political party Podemos is facing a severe financial and institutional crisis. According to official accounts published on the party’s transparency portal and audited by the Tribunal de Cuentas, the organization has accumulated more than 7.8 million euros in losses over the last four years.

This financial decline is accompanied by a significant reduction in assets; the party’s net worth has reportedly decreased by half compared to 2021 levels. This economic instability is closely linked to a loss of political representation. The party currently holds only four seats in the Congress of Deputies, two in the European Parliament, and six regional deputies across Extremadura, Murcia, and the Balearic Islands.

The loss of seats in recent electoral cycles in regions such as Andalusia, Aragon, and Castilla y León has created a cycle where fewer votes lead to fewer seats, resulting in reduced public subsidies and diminished resources to maintain staff and operations.
