Podersdorf am See police arrest two suspects in bicycle theft series
Police in the Neusiedl am See district have arrested two Ukrainian citizens following a series of bicycle thefts in Podersdorf am See and surrounding areas. The arrests occurred last Friday after a witness observed a man fleeing on a stolen e-bike in the early morning hours.
Following a pursuit, officers apprehended a 35-year-old suspect with a suspected stolen bicycle. A subsequent search of a suspicious vehicle found in a local parking lot led to the discovery of another stolen bicycle and documents linked to thefts from motor vehicles. A second suspect, aged 39, was arrested near the vehicle. Authorities seized the vehicle keys and various tools used in the crimes.
While some recovered bicycles have been returned to their owners, investigators are still working to identify other victims and determine the total financial damage. Per the order of the Eisenstadt Public Prosecutor's Office, both suspects have been transferred to the Eisenstadt correctional facility.
