Podgorica and Split expand urban parking infrastructure
Municipalities in Montenegro and Croatia are expanding urban parking capacities through new infrastructure projects.
In Podgorica, construction has begun on a temporary parking lot near the Baston building. The project, initiated following resident requests, will provide 70 spaces and is expected to be completed within ten days. Mayor Saša Mujović stated that parking will be free until the end of the year, after which a zone-based system will be introduced to prioritize local residents with preferential rates.
In Split, the Ravne njive garage has officially opened after receiving its usage permit. The facility offers 509 parking spaces, including 42 for persons with disabilities, as well as dedicated areas for motorcycles, bicycles, and two electric vehicle charging stations. While initially free, regular billing via Split Parking is expected to commence within 20 to 30 days. This opening is part of a broader municipal program aiming to add approximately 6,000 new parking spaces across various ongoing and planned projects in the city.
