Podgorica Assembly to consider memorial in Kuči
The Podgorica City Assembly is set to consider a proposal in mid-September to erect a memorial in Ubli, Kuči. The monument is intended to honor participants of the National Liberation War (1941–1945), victims of Goli Otok, and victims of the Informbiro from the Živković family.
The proposal, submitted by Mayor Saša Mujović, specifies a granite plaque measuring 180 by 110 centimeters on a pedestal. The memorial will feature Cyrillic text, the names of 12 family members, and the inscription “Smrt fašizmu - sloboda narodu” (Death to fascism - freedom to the people). The project is to be jointly erected by SOBNOR and the Živković family, with the family providing the necessary funds and undertaking future maintenance.
The Ministry of Culture and Media has already granted preliminary approval for the decision. The project aims to foster a culture of remembrance for victims of significant post-war historical periods and is included in the capital city's official memorial program, with a completion deadline set for December 2027.
