Podgorica City Assembly approves street renaming and scholarship changes

The Podgorica City Assembly has passed several measures, most notably a proposal to rename Andrija Lainović Street to Slavoljub Šćekić Street.

In a separate decision, assembly members voted against dismissing three members of the Council of the ‘Radosav Ljumović’ National Library, who had initiated a proposal to change the institution's name. The vote resulted in 26 members in favor of dismissal, 20 against, and seven abstentions. Assembly President Srđan Perić noted that the public had not been consulted and procedures were not followed regarding the dismissal attempt.

Other legislative actions included approving changes to scholarship award criteria and reappointing Vladimir Tomović as acting director of the Podgorica Housing Agency. However, the assembly rejected management reports for the football club FK Budućnost, the 2026 spatial development program for the capital, and a proposal to erect a memorial plaque for victims of the 1941-1945 National Liberation War.
