Podgorica city assembly faces political standoff over forced administration

The Democratic People's Party (DNP) accused the Europe Now Movement (PES) of seeking to place Podgorica under a forced administration, alleging that the move is tied to an alliance with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and citing the appointment of Saša Mujović as mayor. DNP warned that the city's governance has been turned into a tool for political leverage.

Srđan Perić of the Movement for Change (Preokret) announced he received oral support from DNP and written backing from DPS for his bid to become president of the City Assembly. He said, "We have no city parliament president and are on the brink of forced administration, to the detriment of citizens," and outlined a proposal to resolve the institutional crisis, improve transparency, and organise local elections within six months.
