Podgorica coalition forms to oust Mayor Saša Mujović

The political movement PES announced the creation of a new governing coalition in Podgorica that brings together the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the Democratic People's Party (DNP) and other partners. The coalition backs Srđan Perić for the presidency of the City Assembly, a position that would give it legislative control over the capital.

PES says the alliance is intended to replace the current mayor, Saša Mujović, and to prevent what it calls a “forced administration” in the city. The DNP issued a rebuttal, accusing PES of using intimidation and denying any intention to cooperate with DPS, while also defending its opposition to the Botun water‑treatment plant project. Both sides claim the coalition is a response to a political crisis in Podgorica and will reshape the city's power balance.

The announcement follows weeks of public statements and negotiations among the parties, with PES emphasizing that the new majority will secure transparent support for Perić and that the coalition reflects a shift in local politics.
